Erin Napier’s late-summer living room decor bridges the gap between seasons with ease.
Summer isn’t over yet, but fall is fast approaching. While many of us are enjoying the last days of warm weather before September begins to end them, others – like interior designer and HGTV star Erin Napier – are ready for the heat to leave.
Living in Mississippi, Erin says she’s done with the unbearable heat of the season. But her living room embodies the end of summer decor beautifully. With the August morning sun beating down and nature’s influence every now and then, the designer’s home is decorated in a summer-meets-fall style that captures the change of season perfectly.
And we’re not the only ones who love the look — other designers agree that the fall design fits the bill. ‘Erin Napier’s decor beautifully captures the essence of summer, combining bright colors with rich fabrics, and creating a space that is timeless and inspiring,’ says Nina Lichtenstein, interior designer and founder of his firm is unknown. Here, we take a look at Erin’s space, admiring all the details of fall decor that make the fall transition even more appealing.
Erin describes the last day of summer in Mississippi as great in the evening, but ‘magical and bright’ first thing in the morning. And we see the second look on full display in this photo of her living room. The space’s beautiful wood-framed windows let in plenty of light (and natural beauty), which illuminates some thoughtful home decor.
Nina shares that the bright, plush sofa ‘brings something simple but fun to the room,’ and its zebra-clad cushions ‘add a wonderful touch.’ A gray sofa on the other side of the room ‘balances the palette, decorated with throw pillows in shades of burnt orange and blue that match the floral arrangement in the foreground.’
The wooden furniture (along with the elegant fireplace, which has been restored to match) pulls the entire look, but the small details make the room shine. A blue and white porcelain vase, lamp and sculptures are scattered throughout the room, bringing summer freshness to the space. Between the vase and the lamp is a rustic wooden bowl with moss-covered decorations, which ‘adds a natural feel’ and ‘brings the basic elements together cleverly,’ says Nina.
She says: ‘A bookshelf full of books and a wooden table with one book provide a place to relax and meditate. ‘Above the mantelpiece, a simple orange painting mixes the soft light from the lamp on the other side of the room. Soft light streaming through the wooden windows illuminates the room with a warm, inviting glow, creating a sense of calm, the feeling of someone just coming out of a peaceful reading session.’
