I Check Clothes For A Living, But Only These 6 Styles From $13 Made My Fall List

Growing up, I had only one dream: to work in fashion. There was never a plan B. So, I know that I’m smiling, I know that my dream came true and I worked in fashion in many different ways. I will say that I prefer to write about my fashion interests rather than my former creative life; that experience gave me a deep appreciation, but it is a good thing to be in order to find the best methods in the market. That being said, I had the opportunity to review over 20 fashion items this month, but these six from Madewell, J.Crew, Everlane, and more stood out. The best part? Prices start at just $13.

The Editor’s 6 Favorite Fashion Picks:

What fashionable outfit can be exchanged with your favorite jeans? IMO, the midi-length denim skirt, and specifically, Petal & Pup’s Dana Front-Slit Denim Midi Skirt. I’ve styled the breezy dress with a tank or tee and a pair of sandals for warmer weather, and plan to wear it with an oversized sweater and knee-high boots in the fall. It comes in a light blue color, ranges from sizes 2 to 12, and is made of 100 percent cotton. It sits high on the waist, has a straight fit that falls away from the body, and has a slit in the front for easy movement.

I rarely wear jeans during the summer months, but now that the temperature has dropped, I wear them almost every day. The pair I’m currently reaching for the most are Madewell’s Perfect Vintage Wide-Leg Jean. Available in petite, regular, and tall sizes, they feature a high-waisted design and an easy fit that opens around the ankle. Denim is very soft on the skin and has a good amount of stretch, so it moves with your body.

One of my biggest pet peeves is pants that don’t fit me well. I hate it when they cut at my waist, and my only options are to have them adjusted or to wear a belt that isn’t comfortable. As much as I like to put them on my body, it sucks when my weight changes and I don’t have more room; that’s why discovering Suosdey’s No-Buckle Elastic Belt was a life-changing process. I adjust it so it sits close to my waist, feed it through my belt loops, then tie the loops to the first two loops, and poof—there’s no more gap. Plus, I don’t have to worry about being comfortable when I go to the bathroom.

Everlane The Boxy Oxford

I want to be minimalist (more like aesthetic, not so much in a capsule wardrobe way), and with that being said, I have more than enough white button down shirts. But the Everlane Boxy Oxford Shirt is different (so I always say). I like that the material is stronger, it makes it good for autumn, but it’s also not too heavy, so you won’t be too hot when you wear it during the summer. This design features an oversized fit, two oversized front pockets, and side slits. Plus, it comes in six solid and line options, and sizes range from 2XS to 2XL.

I have over 15 cardigans, but I’ve been washing and wearing J.Crew’s Crewneck Cardigan on repeat since the temperature dropped. It’s the perfect transition piece because it works like a long sleeve, but you can style it open over a tank. It’s light, stretchy, and very comfortable. It has an ample hood that sits well on the body, and when fully buttoned, the neckline sits high. The pocket cardigan comes in blue, orange, black and beige, from 3XS to 3XL, and is currently on sale.

Vivaia Square-Toe Mary-Jane

I’m upgrading my classic summer ballet flat to Vivaia’s Square-Toe Mary-Jane for fall. The woven shoe has extra protection, and the insoles feel like they’re walking on clouds—in fact, they make a walk after the New York area a lot more fun. Available in 20 colors and prints (!) and sizes 5 to 11, the square toe style features an adjustable buckle strap, anti-snap strap on the back heel to reduce chafing and heating, and rubber feet from holding on slippery surfaces.
